Ledger Controller, Finance Shared Services recruitment
As the Finance Shared Services (FSS) Ledger Controller at UBS, you will be part of an integral member in the FSS Controls Team within Finance responsible for the quality of static reference data used in the General Ledger and portion of data within the ledger. This role is suitable for someone with experience managing an offshore team as well as someone with experience working with large volumes of data.
The team is responsible for the following key:
Month End Focused:
- Investigating clearing errors in the ledger – accounting principle inconsistencies
- Investigating clearing hard soft validations / warnings in the ledger – missing static data
- Review monitor the RAMs the offshore LC team post on behalf of other teams
- Production of daily/monthly metrics
- Coordination of month end issues between Financial Reporting and Product Control teams.
The role will also include additional responsibilities which include:
- Managing an offshore team and ensuring that controls and defaults are followed.
- Review and Documentation of current / new processes.
- Escalation point for any Offshore issues and co-ordination of resolutions.
- Root cause analysis and managing implementation of required remedies.
- Co-ordinating new project work coming into the team to meet new reporting guidelines
- Building relationships, to ensure inefficiencies in the reference data are resolved efficiently, with operations staff, market risk, credit risk, IT, and other Finance staff e.g. other PC, Regulatory and Global Reporting Teams.
- Generating appropriate Management Information Systems (MIS) to allow Senior mgt to understand current status and progress being made.
- Preparing and distributing a number of reports including profit and loss reporting on Global Equities for senior management.
Training will include on-the-job experience, on-line courses and structured lecture room classes to improve product knowledge. The applicant will also contribute to on-going improvements in the processes and controls; including driving incremental changes and supporting larger system development and implementation.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- University degree in a Business related discipline
- At least 2 years work experience within a large organisation
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills
- Good understanding of the importance of reference data and how it is used throughout the financial statements the impact it has on disclosures
- Working within a team environment and being prepared to assist others to achieve results for the group
