Managing Director recruitment
Main Purpose
The Managing Director will be responsible for developing an appropriate, effective and specific growth strategy for the AFCAN business to improve the Company’s market share, manage stakeholder relationships and represent the Alexander Forbes brand in Nigeria in accordance with the strategy agreed with the Group Board and Chief Executive Officer. The role will initially be to consolidate and grow the AFCAN business and then to explore other business opportunities.
Key Accountabilities
The Managing Director will be accountable for the delivery of, but not limited by, the following:
Strategy Development
• Define and commence a business action plan to move AFCAN to a market leading position for all product and service target metrics
• Find opportunities in the marketing of products and services
• Manage capital as a resource and achieve the desired return on capital in AFCAN
• Develop and implement the AFCAN strategy and business plans as per the requirements of the AFCAN Board.
• Develop, implement and manage the AFCAN budgets to support its strategy and business plan.
• Develop and implement timely corrective actions with respect to AFCAN goals, business and financial plans to mitigate risks, emanating from threats and opportunities arising from internal and/or external environmental changes.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance and broaden the customer value proposition, service delivery and client engagement in line with annual Short Term Plan (STP) goals.
• Achieve and exceed the board approved absolute and relative financial and non financial targets
• Ensure satisfactory levels of shareholder value and maintain reciprocal relations with relevant stakeholders
Governance
• Determine the AFCAN risk profile by ensuring alignment to the AF Group’s profile and make recommendations to the Board and AF Group Executive Committee on the appropriate risk appetite, given in-country regulatory and governance requirements.
• Ensure that AFCAN have measures in place to monitor and manage their own risk profiles.
• Determine action plans to effectively reduce and manage risk issues related to audit findings, management assurance findings, compliance issues, and operational risk.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Set up a process and mechanisms for collaboration with other stakeholders, including clients.
• Set up the mechanism for receiving input on an ongoing basis from other important market stakeholders.
• Represent Alexander Forbes in the National and International arenas and network with governments, business leadership, investor community, client franchise, regulators, community and employees.
• Manage and uphold the Alexander Forbes Brand and image.
• Position AFCAN as a thought leader and company of reference through relevance with regard to national priorities and goals.
Leadership and Team Management
• Maintain a positive and ethical work climate within AFCAN that is conducive to attracting, motivating and retaining a diverse group of talented employees at all levels.
• Through leadership, secure a values-based organisational culture that promotes diversity, encourages individual integrity, fairness, customer service excellence and quality work and Treating Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.
• Improve employee engagement in line with the Alexander Forbes SERVE model and values by driving interventions developed to address areas of concern as identified in the annual employee survey
• Recruit, select and develop executive team members (Talent).
• Evaluate the performance of executives for compliance with established policies, good corporate governance and objectives of the Group and their individual contributions to attaining objectives.
• Ensure that measures are in place to enable employees to be effective in their jobs and to motivate the workforce.
• Achieve the Diversity and Inclusion objectives as contracted by Alexander Forbes.
Experience, Competencies, Knowledge and Skills Experience Required
• 5 to 10 years experience in Financial Services industry.
• Proven performance track record in leadership positions.
• Proven track record of inspiring others towards achievement of strategic targets and business plans.
