Application Support Analyst

Background to the role:
Group IT Application Services with circa 130 staff manages the group’s production systems currently numbering over 600. Our responsibilities include ensuring system stability, fixing failures as they arise, improving performance, preventing further errors, managing known errors and providing consultancy to other units.
Over the past year we have consolidated teams and standardised processes. We are predominately based in Cabinteely, with some staff also located in Dublin City Centre and Bristol.
Global Markets provide specialised support to Global Markets Dublin, UK and US and are currently seeking to recruit an energetic, pro-active and committed individual with excellent customer service skills to join our Application Support team. The Algo Support Analyst has specific responsibility for supporting our Algo Credit Risk application and our Algo Market Risk application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Support for Algorithmics Credit Risk, Market Risk and Sentry applications and associated technologies.
- Develop strong technical understanding of other business applications (e.g. SUMMIT, Trade Model, Reporting), with exposure to a variety of technologies and platforms, within a challenging environment.
- Script development, system testing, UAT and business UAT support, live implementation support, and post go live support.
- Ensuring that batch scheduled tasks have completed correctly
- Assessing overnight failures, finding the reason, fixing the issue and rerunning the offending job.
- Dealing with queries on a daily basis from the business users
- Manage and resolve system problems in a timely fashion
- Act as customers primary point of contact for Application related issues
- Ability to manage others working in small teams , conduct reviews and personal development plans
- Providing consultancy to other business units
- Liaising with third party suppliers in the provision of support to business users
- Working with the Project Office to assist in delivery of small/tactical change, to include analysis, coding, testing and implementation.
- Working with the Project Office to ensure the clean transition of major releases / new systems into the Production Support area
- Ability to manage own workload, while working as part of an overall team
Key Requirements (essential):
Experience/Knowledge
- 3+ years experience in a similar I.T. role
- Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Treasury Products , Business Acumen
- Working knowledge of software development project lifecycle methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with initiative and drive
- Ability to build and maintain good working and interpersonal relationships with both customers and suppliers
- Ambitious self-starter and a team player
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills/root cause analysis.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Excellent Customer Service manner

Technical Skills
- Knowledge of the Algo Market v4.5.4 and Credit Risk
- Knowledge of Microsoft XP, Microsoft Server 2003/2008, Microsoft Office, File shares
- Knowledge and experience of various operating systems Windows, Unix and VMS
- Knowledge of Oracle database technologies
- Experience of writing SQl queries to facilitate problem solving, data analysis, interrogate data through query tools e.g. TOAD , SQL Developer
- Knowledge of IBM Webshphere MQ
- Experience supporting a diverse range of financial applications
- Thorough, logical and methodical approach to problem solving
Key Requirements (desirable):
- Experience in a structured Support environment
- Experience supporting treasury systems would be advantageous
- Knowledge and experience of relational databases with accompanying SQL skills
- ITIL service chain and incident, problem, change and release process

Candidates may be required to participate within an on-call rota for which an additional rate will be received
