Team Description:
Produce, complete and routinely enhance an internal (desk-based) monitoring programme to ensure the effective oversight of Investment Managers/Authorised Corporate Depositarys activity in respect of the operation of open and close-ended schemes. This includes Investment Borrowing Power reviews, with associated qualitative monitoring; production of NAV reconstructions; production of periodic certification letters; review of periodic client reporting; production of regular KPI reporting and monitoring against SLAs. A section of the department is also responsible for producing daily Charles River Investment Monitoring reports for the UK and European branches and all aspects of fund set up and maintenance on the system.

Job Purpose:
Day to day management of aspects of the Monitoring department. This area monitors activities of Fund Managers in all aspects of compliance as governed by the Financial Conduct Authority Handbook of rules and guidance, the Financial Services and Market Act 2000 and the OEIC Regulations 2001. As part of a team ensure that the Banks position as Trustee/Depositary is protected and that the client receives a service commensurate with any service level in place. The jobholder has discretion in terms of decision making with regard to undernoted list of principal responsibilities. It is their responsibility to escalate to their direct line manager.

Responsibilities:
Completion and implementation of monitoring programme for all Funds, ensuring that work is completed in accordance with the departmental procedures and to the required standards. Work covers investment limit checks, pricing checks, audit certificates, report and accounts and a variety of associated activities.
Provide technical support and advice to Investment Trust Managers and Authorised Corporate Directors.
Act as focus for all internal and external compliance/audit inspections involving issues relating to pricing, investments and audit production.
Identify and report any issues considered being or becoming significant to the Head of Monitoring CBS or other senior management.
Represent area in internal/external client meetings.
Review and authorise periodic audit letters.
Review and authorise investment reviews on Funds, determining levels of significance, suggesting remedial action to Fund Manager and monitoring through to resolution.
Conduct re-pricing exercises.
Identify and implement operational efficiencies with focus on client added value benefits, cost saving and improved control of risk.
Determine breaches; enter to register ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.
In conjunction with the Head of Monitoring, plan, manage and develop team members, by formatting training and development plans, using coaching skills where necessary. Set objectives or key Areas of Responsibility. Appraise performance against objectives and formulate staff development plans.
The jobholder is required to support the disciplines and cultures of Investors in People.
