OPERATIONAL RISK
Work within a small team which strives to add value to the business through the review of risks holistically across the organization. Negotiating agreement of risk handoffs between departments and challenging business management on their risk awareness, risk event lessons learnt and risk assessments. Responsible for developing on-going relationships with Risk Champions at senior levels across Asia Pacific with the aim of drawing out and understanding their key risk issues and both challenging and facilitating the actions plans that they have in place. Lead a review of risk event identification, collation and reporting processes in Asia Pacific to compare to best practice standards. Recommend and implement an enhancement plan and then be responsible for the on-going process within Asia Pacific. This would include developing a root cause analysis approach and training Risk Champions in the methodology. Participate in New Business and Project Risk Workshops and direct discussions which draw out potential risks and ensure that appropriate actions plans are implemented. Ensure that Project Managers and Risk Champions are adequately trained on how to run effective risk workshops. Facilitate the linkage of project risks into the global risk framework by establishing effective reporting to senior management as well as inclusion into business risk assessments and scenario analysis. Perform scenario analysis for input into global capital calculations. Chair scenario discussion workshops with key senior risk champions and business stakeholders. Bring together risk information from all elements of the risk framework and combine with industry knowledge to prepare comprehensive scenario templates which can generate value added business discussion and identify and measure current and emerging risks. Perform a review and challenge of Business Risk Assessments as appropriate and assist in the follow up of outstanding actions. Work with senior management to develop top down risk reporting for senior management committees. Ensure that all risks which are reported to senior management have appropriate action plans in place, which are tracked. Provide risk training and education to business units, emphasising line management ownership of risks.
To be considered, you will be a university graduate with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a dedicated risk management capacity or similar role (e.g. Audit, Compliance) of a financial services organisation. Front office experiences are desirable, but not required. A FRM, CFA or advanced quantitative degree are highly desirable. Strong influencing skills, proven experience and success in identifying key stakeholders and building and maintaining strong relationships. Strong presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexible and adaptable, responds rapidly to changing business needs. Able to re-prioritise and organise effectively. Excellent attention to detail and ability to understand complex products and processes. Willingness to travel (approx. 10%). Decision-maker. Effective problem solving and solution oriented, able to initiate change. Highly proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
