Operations Business Analyst, AVP
They are currently looking to hire a high calibre and mid to senior level AVP to join a strategic program of work to consolidate the sub-ledgers, PL processes, and business line balance sheet reporting across all asset classes globally onto a single application.
This is a multi-year program with stakeholders across all areas in the Business, Finance, Operations and IT.
There is a Summit Decommissioning program which runs alongside this one and is supported from an Ops and Product Control perspective by the Operations change team. Summit is the legacy OTC derivatives processing system, covering trade capture, cash flow accounting, and other related functions. The new platform will be providing the replacement accounting engine to support the decommissioning of Summit. The Operations change team work across Operations, Finance and IT with specific responsibilities of ensuring requirements across Operations functions are satisfied.
The successful candidate will work in the project team focused on supporting Summit Decommissioning, with tasks covering Business analysis; functional requirements documentation; test approach definition; test execution, user training and stakeholder communications As the program progresses, business analysts in the team will have the opportunity to support multiple work streams.
Main Responsibilities:
* Work with the Project/ Work Stream Leads to ensure execution of project life cycle tasks
* Plan and perform analysis: Define approach and perform business analysis, document findings and present proposals; help design solutions in line with strategic vision of the program and firm.
* Elicit business requirements, act as the interface between Ops line functions, Finance and technology.
* Create quality business and functional requirements working closely with the Implementation and Design teams.
* Work with Operations and Finance SMEs to validate business analysis/requirements, testing preparation and liaise with users during user testing.
* Develop test plan / test cases and execute test cases.
* Identify and track issues, analyse and propose resolutions.
* Assist with training, communication and education across Operations.
* Act as SME, work with project control/ reconciliation teams to resolve production issues where required.
Person Requirements
Due to where this role sits it would be beneficial that this person have some understanding of finance / product control related projects or a knowledge of book hierarchies. It would also prove useful to have experience of working on systems related change projects within an investment bank and a good understanding of front to back operational process flows. Knowledge of reconciliation and controls function or experience of working with ledgers/accounting data in investment banking could also be advantageous.
* In terms of the change skills this candidate needs to have proven business analysis and problem solving skills within Investment Banking, solid experience in data analysis, documentation and functional testing.
Other key skills:
* Minimum Graduate Degree; Strong Numeric/Engineering Degree preferred.
* Ability to assimilate information quickly.
* Ability to define analysis approach, conclude and summarize findings.
* Ability to plan, prioritize and execute their own workload efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
* Strong team player; Experience in working in a virtual team.
* Proactive in identifying control gaps, defining resolution through to closure.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to partner and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders from various areas of Operations and more broadly across the organisation.
