Title: Oracle/SQL Database Administrator

Role Summary
Reporting to the Global Head of DBA Location Head, your role will involve MSSQL database systems, implementing MSSQL technology and to ensure high availability and high performance of MSSQL databases.
Responsibilities
- Willingness to work on high pressure, participate in 24x7 and weekend knowledge sharing, deployment maintenance tasks
- Installation, configuration, management and maintenance of Oracle databases.
- Ensure follow-the-sun support model and on-call support
- Responsible for database health, resiliency, performance tuning and optimisation, operational control procedures, support and inventory.
- Ensure High Availability of the database systems: Oracle backup Recovery, clustering, replication, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle RAC.
- Ensure Recoverability of Oracle databases: production and non-production. Maintain high standards of backup/recovery, conduct recovery tests.
- Ensure best performance of the critical databases through efficient maintenance and performance tuning.
- Provide technical documentation.
- Support and implement database changes, ensure quality of the changes.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Sciences or equivalent experience
Knowledge Skill
- MS SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008 R2
- Experience on database administration in SQL Server (2000-2008)
- Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU ,memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
- Knowledge of backups and restores
- Oracle Database 10g / 11g
- Strong experience in managing Oracle databases, including installation, maintenance and Upgrade
- In-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures
- Sound knowledge in administrating (RMAN), monitoring (Grid Control)
- Sound knowledge on supporting Oracle ASM Dataguard and RAC
- Perform database performance monitoring and tuning
- Strong knowledge of SQL/SQL*Plus and strong understanding of PL/SQL and stored procedures/pkgs
- Strong knowledge of Unix shell scripting languages
- Technically skilled in Windows and Unix/Linux
- Windows and Unix/Linux operating system - Unix OS: Solaris and Linux: commands, tools and utilities, scripting skills
- Experience of OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and DSS (Decision Support Systems), Data Warehousing, OLAP
- Database Security
- Database Networking
- OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and DSS (Decision Support Systems), Data Warehousing, OLAP and ETL skills as well
- Experience on HA solution, including VERITAS Cluster / RAC / Windows Cluster
- Certified DBA a plus
- Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems to database.
- Ability to use applications software, data structures, utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the existing computing environment.
- Ability to perform systems and applications needs analysis on database.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Financial experience would be a plus
- Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Anticipate/forecast critical points and make adjustments to deliver to commitments
- Highly structured ITIL compliant support
