Piping Designer -- Senior or Principal

Primary Job Responsibilities Accomplishes results through teaming with less experienced employees. Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. May lead a section or group of designers/drafters, usually on a single project in a specialized field. Designs components or portions of systems, and modifies existing designs to develop or improve them. Uses computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools: Gathers information, makes studies, performs calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposal: Coordinates design criteria with engineering, tooling, material, and planning group in accordance with contractual specifications. Training and Experience 10+ years of experience required, drafting/design and related coursework, Associate Degree or equivalent experience a prerequisite. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to periodically travel to various Client job sites. Must be willing to travel to Client locations that require, due to distance, air travel. Hands - on experience or knowledge of 3D design software, 2D CAD software and Microsoft Office software. (PDMS and MicroStaion preferred) Must be willing to work in a team environment with multi-discipline members or execute single discipline projects. Must be able to execute work within approved budgets, develop progress reports, interface directly with Clients and direct the efforts of lesser experienced designers / drafters. Other Essential Functions Will at times involve travel to chemical plants and refineries which may require exposure to temperature extremes. Will occasionally require the use and wear of personal protective equipment such as fire retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats and steel toe boots. Will sometimes require moderate physical excertion to include climbing stairs / ladders, entering confined spaces, or walking the property of a job site to take field measurements and evaluate engineering design options. Most physical requirements are limited to standard office needs (sitting / standing for extended periods of tme, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively,lifting of less than 20 lbs frequently, etc.) Other Requirements
