Pricing Analyst – Europe, Africa, Middle East & Asia (EAME & Asia) recruitment
Primary Functions/Responsibilities: Daily Processes:
- Maintain automated UK/US Aligne spreadsheet price uploads.
- Utilise and further develop price integrity checks to ensure that batch loaded forward curves are accurate representations of the associated commodity markets. Where possible, validate that the price data was delivered to the intended target system of record.
- Work with the IT overnight support team to develop price checks that ensure the integrity of the overnight data feed import into Aligne, as these processes are critical to the overnight profit/loss (PnL) and Value at Risk (VaR) calculations.
- Maintain data on manually uploaded curves for periodic accounting analysis.
Curve Set-up and Maintenance:
- Provide a single point of contact for price curve support requests. Responsible for working with IT, Finance and Risk Management groups to ensure that curve requests are completed in a timely manner and that the resulting curves meet the deal valuation and associated accounting requirements for the Commercial activity.
- Ensure consistency in forward curve designs across different target systems (US Aligne, UK Aligne), so that physical and financial positions at the same product-location are marked to market in the same manner.
- Work with the systems support and customer groups to automate price curve delivery into the target systems and reduce the number of curves that require manual loading.
Price Quality Assurance:
- Develop price Quality Assurance checks to ensure that key trade exposures are valued against the correct prices. These QA checks should support both end of day price upload and the following morning Profit/Loss and VaR calculation review.
- Work with position control, risk, and finance analysts to review Profit/Loss, Mark to Market, and VaR results for accuracy with regard to the input prices.
- Understand the ConocoPhillips price delivery infrastructure and work with the systems support groups to develop and improve price delivery monitoring procedures.
Required Experience :
- Relevant experience within the mid/back office duties of a global energy trading organization, including the term pricing structure of the commodities markets, Mark to Market valuation of physical positions / financially settled derivative instruments, Value at Risk , and the data requirements associated with valuation-related accounting (FAS133 / FAS157).The position requires some familiarity with standard option valuation techniques and associated option model inputs (e.g., volatilities, correlations).
- Experience maintaining complex Excel models using macros and visual basic. Experience with price delivery infrastructure, deal capture, and risk management systems (preferably experience with LIM and Aligne).
- Familiarity with commodities typically traded by the Europe Asia trade groups, mainly gas and power.
- Experience of Sungard Aligne is particularly advantageous but not essential.
Education:
- Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred, a reasonable mathematical content to the degree is also beneficial but not required.
Preferred Critical Skills:
- Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions.
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills – this role is part of an international team

Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel (potentially two or three trips per year to Asia)
