Product Strategist
BlackRock is seeking a Product Specialist to support the growth of the Multi Asset Portfolio Strategies (MAPS) team in New York. This person will sit with the investment team and be responsible for representing multiple multi-asset mutual funds and separate accounts to retail financial advisors around the country. The retail mutual fund initiative is a key growth driver for BlackRock for the coming years, and the Investment Strategist position will play a critical role in determining our success.
Key Responsibilities
This person will take a lead role in representing the one or more Multi Asset mutual funds, and supporting other retail strategies across MAPS. Responsibilities include attending investment meetings, understanding asset allocation rationale, describing short-term tactical risks and rewards across the full array of asset classes (equities, fixed income, currencies), the use of a fund in a financial advisors' broader portfolio, competitive product positioning. This role may entail interacting with retail clients and advisors in Europe and Asia, but will be predominately focused in the US.
Communication skills are essential to this role, particularly the ability to distill complex issues into plain language. Although institutional experience may be valuable, experience with retail financial advisors is a necessity. The successful candidate may have a background as a portfolio specialist, but may also come from a retail sales background.
Qualifications
- Credible expertise in Equities, Fixed Income, or alternatives
- Participate in the development and creation of new investor-friendly marketing materials.
- Understand the investment processes of individual active BlackRock mutual funds and how those funds fit within asset allocation portfolios.
- Represent the team's short and intermediate-term views on global asset markets, including equity, fixed income, commodities, and alternatives.
- Communicate to Channels the investment strategy and performance results, and provide technical support on products.
- Understand the competitive landscape; develop key points of differentiation for BlackRock.
- Ability to collaborate with Marketing and Client Businesses partners – experience working and collaborating with diverse sales organizations
- Strong interpersonal communication skills – ability to articulate and represent investment team strategies confidently, credibly and persuasively
- High level of self-motivation, with strong integrity ethics.
- Resourceful, proactive and able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- FINRA series 7 and 63 securities licenses a plus.
