Duties

·         Responsible for the design and implementation of QA test plans and test cases for manual and automated tests. Develops tests procedures so that less experienced engineers may conduct the tests using QC-10.

·         Mentors and trains QA Engineers and Technicians in designing test cases, running tests, managing defects, generating test progress and defect reports, etc.

·         Participates in the test, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and root-cause analysis of sub-assembly and systems level HW and SW problems.

·         Validates and performs systems level interoperability testing of Ethernet, Zigbee, network devices and network configurations using packet analyzers or RF sniffers to analyze the network to troubleshoot and determine root cause of an issue.

·         Designs, implements, and maintains automated test scripts during the product life cycle for HW and SW. Implements automated test scripts such as HP Quick Test Pro, Python, VB Scripts, and works with Labview automation engineers.

·         Creates procedures and QA processes to control the SW/FW and place under version control using Source Safe or other version control software. May also perform make-builds.

·         Works as a member of a team to identify highest impact failure modes, establish failure mechanisms, quantify failure in time impact, and revise process controls to reduce failure in time impact of these modes.

 

Requirements

·         Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

·         8 years experience as a quality assurance test engineer where there was the opportunity to integrate and run manual and automated HW, SW, and WEB tests, as well as troubleshooting HW such as microcontrollers, switching power supplies, and working with high voltage.

·         Proficient in designing and building custom test setups to test the product, such as but not limited to creating test fixtures, knowledge of communications protocols including Ethernet, Zigbee, RS-232/485, and HPIB communicating with test equipment using LabView, direct experience or working knowledge of HALT/HASS, vibration and thermal/humidity chambers used to test hardware.

·         Expert knowledge of quality systems such as HP Quality Center (formerly Test Director) or other tools such as Rational Testing Tools, SilkTest, etc.

·         Experience must include expert defect tracking control experience and experience managing the defect system and driving defects towards resolution.

·         Experience with all standard test equipment such as meters, scopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, LabView control SW, as well as experience with Ethernet and Zigbee networks and sniffers.
