Regional Underwriting Manager – Accident & Health recruitment
We are seeking an experienced insurance professional to fill the position of Regional Underwriting Manager - Accident Health.
The incumbent will be responsible for setting underwriting policy and providing leadership to a regional network of AH underwriting managers with the objective to optimize AH risk adjusted profit for the Region.
Reporting to the Regional Head of AH, this position will be based in Dubai.
Specific responsibilities will include:
* Driving consistent underwriting best practices and guidelines across regions and segments.
* Developing underwriting processes and procedures
* Providing knowledge transfer of product ideas, underwriting/pricing practices across markets to educate regional and country management on available products to be considered for profitable sales and distribution in local markets.
* Developing the framework for underwriting authority and assigning specific authority to line of business leaders
* Reviewing portfolio analysis and providing leadership on decision making
* Management reporting
* Providing leadership in the product development unit to ensure product integrity and supporting the development of new products and/or enhancements.
* Reviewing new and renewal underwriting referrals and providing timely approval or modifications.
* Ensuring that compliance, legal and audit related queries from regional and country operation management are responded to in an appropriate manner
* Ensuring that proper review and approval processes are in place for new policy wordings or major policy wording changes.
* Working with Chartis talent development professionals to plan underwriting learning and development programs for Regional/Country Underwriting and AH staff.
The successful candidate for this position will possess at least 12 years' experience in underwriting, with 5 years in a managerial role. A strong understanding of Accident and Health insurance products, the use of technology as a strategic lever and a depth of knowledge of direct marketing distribution channels will be essential for success.
