POSITION - Risk Analyst
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To support the business with the provision of accurate and timely management information regarding the state and risks of the current (and potential future) portfolio such that it informs strategic and tactical decision making
- To ensure that financial (treasury) transactions are confirmed and executed correctly, with no unauthorized or in-correct transactions taking place
- To quantify the value of specific risks within contracts such that recommendations for reducing the risks can be made
- To provide analytical support for key business activities, both financial and non-financial
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The role is based within the Commercial Risk team which is responsible for delivering accurate and timely management information. The main responsibilities include:
- Monitor trade booking validation process
- Review of draft sales proposals and contracts
- Prepare and validate of management reporting comprising commodity and capacity physical position reports, financial exposure reports (Mark-To-Market valuation and credit exposure analysis), forecasting cash flow, credit rating and invoicing checking, ad-hoc analysis and reports
- Develop and maintain contract pricing tools to value the various options and flexibilities within contracts
- Provide model development services where there is a requirement (both financial and non-financial)
- Ad-hoc data assurance where necessary
- Resolve and/or escalate issues and anomalies
- Effective communication with customer base (senior management, sales, operations and finance staff)
- Ensure business process compliance at all times
- Be responsible for own continuous personal development
REQUIREMENTS
Vocational Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level is essential, ideally in a numerate subject
- Risk Management qualifications (desirable)

Experience needed
- Experience of working in a role that has involved analysing and collating information and data is desirable.
- Experience in commodity/energy markets would also be desirable
Specific knowhow and technical skills
- Experience of using MS Office applications to an advanced level is essential
- Experience of programming skills is desirable
