Risk Manager

Leading asset management house seeks an experienced operational risk specialist to work across all business areas and fund ranges, providing support to senior management with regard to all aspects of the design, measurement, and evaluation and reporting of operational risk.

The successful candidate will possess a strong academic record, to include a strong degree and, ideally a relevant professional qualification (CFA a definite advantage).  Strong stakeholder management, presentation and relationship building skills are essential, as the role carries responsibility for presenting information to the Board and other Committees in order for business decisions to be made.  Academic and interpersonal skills must be complemented by a strong work ethic, flexible approach and a strong commitment to the delivery of superior operational risk solutions.  Superior analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a complex international organisation are essential.

Situated within the firm’s central risk and assurance division, the role will involve working closely with investment professionals and business managers to develop and maintain a robust operational risk framework across the business.    Detailed knowledge of specific fund types will be extremely useful but the ability and desire to come up to speed across a wide range of investment products and fund types is essential. Previous experience of Enterprise Wide Risk and Governance is essential and will be complemented by exposure to the full investment process lifecycle.

This is an extremely varied role requiring the incumbent to work closely with other control and audit areas to ensure consistency of approach towards all aspects of risk and control.  The incumbent will be specifically, but not solely involved in the ongoing development and production of ICAAP, coordinating risk workshops with senior management, contributing to the development and monitoring of control self assessments and managing major incidents when they arise.
