Background Information
The Univest Company B.V. is being established as Unilever’s in-house central investment unit responsible for overseeing the c. EUR 20 bln of assets of Unilever’s 75+ worldwide pension schemes in 45+ countries. The Univest Company will provide services to Unilever’s pension schemes ranging from simple advice and assistance to reviewing and fully implementing investment strategies.
The Univest Company also has responsibility for running Unilever’s range of cross border asset pooling vehicles (the Univest vehicles) which currently consist of nine different products across three asset classes.
The Univest Company is being created from Unilever’s existing dedicated investment staff in Corporate Pensions, the UK Pension Fund and the Dutch Pension Fund. Employees will operate within one single team spread across two locations; London and Rotterdam. This position is reporting to the Chief Operating Risk Officer who is based in Rotterdam and a member of the Univest Company’s executive committee and Leadership team. We are now looking for a:
Risk, Performance Compliance Officer (38516)
Main Job Purpose
The main purpose is to provide a level of expertise and support to the Univest Company leadership team including the Chief Operating Risk Officer and Risk Compliance manager.
Key Deliverables/Accountabilities
· This role is accountable for the design, maintenance and execution of performance measurement, risk measurement and compliance procedures
· This role is accountable for the accurate and timely reporting to clients and other stakeholders of performance figures, risk and compliance reporting
· Support the design, implementation and maintenance of a Risk Control Compliance framework
· Calculation of and execution of risk measurement, performance data and compliance guidelines
· Liaise with 3rd party service providers and coordinate/lead evaluation/review meetings
· Liaise with clients and identify requirements in the field of performance measurement, risk measurement and compliance
· Represent Univest Company during Industry events related to the role
Key Responsibilities
· Make sure performance measurement, risk measurement and compliance procedures are updated regularly
· Identify process improvements and advise the COO and Leadership team on new developments
· Identify Industry best practices and liaise with Industry bodies to ensure Univest Company benefits from the most recent developments
· Liaise with clients and capture any changing reporting requirements
· Support the design, implementation and maintenance of a Risk Control Compliance framework
· Execute periodic performance, risk and compliance calculation and reporting
· Coordinate, evaluate and process risk management, performance measurement and compliance output from external investment managers
· Coordinate, evaluate and process output from service providers who execute risk management and compliance procedures
· Support the Chief Operating Risk officer and Risk Compliance manager when asked on ad hoc activities or as part of other projects
Communication
This role requires interaction with local, regional and global Univest Company and Unilever corporate finance colleagues as well as regular exposure to external service providers.
Skills Experience
· Master degree in economics or business administration
· Additional risk management, performance measurement or compliance training will be required
· A level of financial awareness, and interest in developing an understanding of pensions and investment management
· Advanced knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint as well as confidence in the use of IT tools and packages
· Strong written and verbal communication skills (both Dutch and English) are essential
· Self motivator with excellent organisation skills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
