Senior Java/C++ Specialist – Optimisation/Logistics
My client, a leading Oil and Gas company are urgently looking to hire a senior software engineer for their front office Oil and Gas business.
As part of the role, the you will work closely with Traders and Operators in order to optimise shipping scheduling/planning as well as the overall trading portfolio. Through an advanced knowledge of meta-heuristics optimisation, particularly related to evolutionary algorithms (EA), you will work with the technical lead and continually seek ways to achieve superior results.
The individual will also be required to write code and oversee all development activities of the team, while pursuing software engineering best practices for design, build and test - a high-quality documentation, traceability and knowledge sharing is expected.
This is a unique role well positioned to create substantial value for the OG business and requires an individual with the right mix of technical, quantitative and communication skills.
Essentials:
- Technical skills – Up-to-date knowledge of Java and C/C++.
- Experience in logistics, physical supply and trading optimisation is a MUST
- Quantitative Skills - In depth knowledge and experience in optimisation, using a meta-heuristic approach with evolutionary algorithms (EA).
- Ideally energy or commodities experience but not essential
- A quantitative PhD degree from a recognised university – preferably with previous work related to optimisation.
