TECHNICAL
Acting as lead pension technical adviser for Heartwood, including:-
- Maintaining personal legislative and working practice knowledge to an appropriate standard to advise on the majority of client pension issues
- Proactive education of pension technical team members and Client Directors to ensure aware of current legislative issues
- Production of library materials (e.gg. factsheets, web content) and communications for client and internal purposes.
- Identification of issues beyond team competencies and working with appropriate outsource solutions to provide advice within Heartwood risk framework
- Responsibility for 4-eyes process for pension advisory activities
PENSION CLIENT ACTIVITIES
- Supporting Client Directors as the Pension Adviser for clients who have a Heartwood SIPP relationship or other HMRC regulated pension arrangement where Heartwood has an active advisory mandate. This includes proactive reviews of client affairs in light of regulatory and legislative changes or in changes to client circumstances. This will also include joint attendance at meetings, and direct communication with clients via other media.
- Preparation and sign off of Suitability Reports covering all aspects of pension planning, including pension transfers, contribution planning, vesting of benefits and Lifetime Allowance planning (in keeping with 4-eyes check process).
- Provide pension advice to clients ensuring all KYC and regulatory requirements are fully adhered to.
- Address all client enquiries as they relate to pensions within a timely, efficient and compliant manner.
- Working with Client Directors within the business to assist them in identifying new business opportunities and Closing sales on introductions of new client advisory business consistent with Heartwood wealth management model.
- Those holding a Controlled Function have a responsibility to uphold high standards of integrity and probity. They need to adhere to ethical behaviour consistent with that set out in the Financial Service Authority’s Statements of Principle and Code of Practice for Approved Persons (APER).
- Assisting the Head of Professional Services with research, completion and implementation of projects relating to structural changes in the team and the business proposition.
- Managing a limited book of direct client relationships
Academic:
- Good secondary education i.e. primarily As and Bs at A level or equivalent
- University education - 2.1 or 1st class degree
Professional Qualifications:
- CII Diploma in Financial Planning Qualification obtained, including J04 J05 or earlier equivalent pension qualifications. AF3 is also desirable as is more general progress towards the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory process and requirements
- Thorough understanding of investment and financial planning principles and processes
- Proven experience within the financial services sector.
- Ability to assess risk to the business and to escalate where required
- Confidence to liaise with staff and external parties, including the regulator, at all levels
