Job Description:
The Global Technology Field "System Architecture and Platforms" is a global team with more than 80 experts located in Germany, the US, Russia and India. The US team is looking for a Senior Software Architect who drives and guides the specification and implementation of software and system architecture for projects with high business impact. Examples for such projects are the introduction of software product lines, large software integration projects, complex and large multi-site projects or high-risk software and system projects.

The Senior Software Architect aims at increasing Siemens' competitiveness of Siemens products by coaching the business units in creating sustainable system and software architectures. She/he leads, guides, coaches, and motivates the architects and developers in his/her team in consulting projects to enable, support, and enforce an appropriate implementation, quality assurance, test, maintenance, and evolution of the software architectures he/she designed, even in the face of challenging, changing, and evolving business cases, requirements, realization technologies, and other forces e.g. strategic changes approaching the project.

Job responsibilities:
- Manages and executes complex, collaborative projects involving several technology fields, Siemens businesses and universities
- Manages and executes research projects with the objective to extend and develop our consulting offers
- Performs architecture reviews and assessments.
- Acquires funded consulting projects with Siemens businesses
- Supports development of appropriate approaches to market the team's consulting offers
- Manages and executes government funded projects including proposal process
- Actively supports development of the team's research roadmap and product portfolio
- Supports the global team by active collaboration with the colleagues in Germany, Russia and India
- Participates, as a trainer, in architecture trainings (SWA)
- Provides technical leadership to the team, collaborators and customers with respect to state-of-the-art software and system architecture methods, tools, and trends.
- Identifies high-impact research topics in software and system architecture.

Qualifications:
- Masters in Computer Science / Engineering required. PhD a plus with 6-10 years of experience.
- Excellent knowledge of software and systems architecture with the ability to see the bigger picture and complex solutions
- Experience with large scale development and/or projects
- Experience in building and leading a strong team of technology experts in large Software or system development projects
- Proven connections to a large corporate software or system product development program and to universities in the USA
- Strategic orientation paired with good understanding of the relationship between architecture and business
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (verbal written) skills. English language skills required.
