Position Description:
Combined with the global growth in demand for electricity, the
volatility of fuels needed to generate it and tightening regulatory
and reporting requirements, energy companies must manage fuels more
effectively and efficiently to remain competitive.
At SunGard, we are looking for an experienced Technical
Consultant to provide our Energy customers with on-site services,
primarily focused on the configuration and implementation of Aligne
software. Responsibilities include business process analysis,
systems configuration, software enhancement design, implementation
and documentation, software training, troubleshooting, solution
documentation and issue management. The succesful candidate
will provide clients with an intelligent, professional
service, and facilitate project communication to all
stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop expertise covering the breadth of the industry
including the power, gas, oil, and coal energy sectors
- Design, implement and test the working solution to interface
with an ETRM system
- Configure systems, including release change and configuration
management
- Setup, maintenance and configuration of hardware platforms
- Research customer business processes to establish project
objectives and product solutions
- Actively support project managers by focusing on project goals
and keeping the team informed of progress, hurdles, risks, and
successes
- Become an expert in project execution by mastering
implementation methodologies and the ability to work with all kinds
of energy companies and customers
- Manage issues and enhancements by developing test cases,
tracking resolution, and analysing and troubleshooting
(diagnostics)
- Continuously review process and product documentation and
improve software expertise
- Participate in the on-going development of service initiatives
seeking to make the group better, smarter, and faster than the
competition
This role will include significant travel to client sites
(80-100%)
Position Requirements:
- Proven Java experience, including Spring
- Experience with JMS, SOAP and Web Services
- Experience of Web Servers (Weblogic, JBoss, etc.)
- Proficient in Oracle and PL/SQL
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008
- Degree in Business, Computer Science or related
field, or equivalent
- An enthusiastic self-starter with proven problem solving
skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Must display professionalism and confidence
- Excellent customer service skills
- Solid organisational, multi-tasking, and time-management
skills
