SHARIAH / SHARIAH COMPLIANCE / ISLAMIC LAW / COMPLIANCE OFFICER / BANKING

MAIN DUTIES

1. Responsible for all compliance issues including Shariah issues in relation to the Bank’s Malaysian activities.

2. Responsible to ensure that internal compliance policies and regulatory requirements are adhered to within Malaysia, through advisory work, monitoring procedures, processes, raising awareness initiatives or in-house training sessions.

3. Responsible for understanding the Bank’s entire internal compliance functions and various business areas within Malaysia.

4. Responsible to keep abreast of new products, technologies and applications as well as their implications for respective business areas.

5. Responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s operation are conducted in compliance with ethical  business practices, company policies and legal requirements.

6. Advising on the preparation of documentation for regulatory authorities.

7. Ensure procedures intended to prevent unethical and illegal conduct are adhered to.

8. Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering requirements of Malaysia and German global requirements.

9. Act as the Malaysian MLRO and report suspicions in accordance with Malaysian and/or German requirement.

10. Act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in accordance to the Group Data Policy and relevant local data protection legislation.

11. Handle other ad hoc duties or project as assigned from time to time.

 

MAIN REQUIREMENTS

"A qualified Shariah officer is an officer who holds at least a bachelor’s degree in Shariah, which includes study in Usul Fiqh (the origin of Islamic law) and Fiqh Muamalat (Islamic transaction/commercial law)."

Other requirements: 

- At least 2-3 years in the banking / regulated industry

- Good command in written and spoken English

- Willing to do other conventional compliance work , and not just Islamic compliance
