The Sr. Project Manager will provide project management and relationship management for business and application development projects. Individual will liaise with the project sponsors, stakeholders, external vendors and other divisions within State Street to ensure the delivery of quality products within the expected timeframes and budgets. The Senior Project Manager must demonstrate leadership abilities in project prioritization, resource management, planning, scope management, and timely and effective response to project changes and risks. Individual must be able to work under minimal direction while keeping senior management apprised of issues and project status. Individual will lead business continuity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
Responsibilities:
- Simultaneously coordinate multiple projects with business product managers, analysts, implementation team and infrastructure teams
- Develop and maintain project schedules and resource plans clearly defining dependencies
- Coordinate QA plans with the various testing groups
- Direct activities, assign responsibilities, set contributor performance expectations and motivate team members toward achieving project objectives
- Create transition plans for post development support and operations
- Closely monitor project resources, tasks, risks and milestones and when necessary forecast impact on schedule, quality, and cost and make course corrections using defined change control procedures
- Facilitate communication between internal and external resources both locally and off-shore
- Coordinate and manage disaster recovery exercise and business continuity activities.
- Provide on-going oversight and maintenance of Microsoft Project Server.
- Oversee maintenance of request ticketing system (ISM)
- Mentor less experienced staff on roles and responsibilities of project management
- 7-10 years experience in Information Technology with 5-7 years as a hands on software development project manager
- Proven ability to effectively manage time and balance priorities across simultaneous assignments
- Proven analytical skills to interpret business and functional requirements
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Self-starter with a desire to overcome obstacles and deliver
- Knowledge of web technologies and the Software Development Life Cycle
- BS/BA or equivalent required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products including MS Project and Rational ClearQuest
- PMP Certification is desired
- Knowledge of alternative development frameworks Ex. Agile, PRINCE2 etc. is a plus
- Financial services industry experience preferred
