Technical Publications Author/Engineering Job in Manchester, North West Uk

MAIN DUTIES

-Control of technical publications media.
-Preparation of information, written and photographic of English manuals for translation into various languages for machine export.
-Excellent organisational skills required to produce language variants of the standard manuals.
-Assist Drawing Office and Projects personnel in ensuring that machine manuals contain accurate information specific to the build of each machine.
-Ensure that machine manuals are complied and checked in time to be dispatched with the relevant machine.
-Provide suggestions for improving the efficiency and throughput of the machine manual publication.
-Distribution and collection of documentation, both written and photographic.
-Collection and storage of information required in the compilation of machine manuals.
-Assist in the maintenance of Drawing Office Records when requested.
-Co-ordinate manual preparation and completion across multiple international manufacturing sites.
-Provide recommendations and / or solutions for improvement of the Technical Publications and Drawing Office Records Departments.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCE LEVEL

-Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office (Word 97)
-Good knowledge of English language is required.
-Knowledge of a second language i.e. French, Spanish and Chinese etc would be an advantage.

Experience required
-An engineering background would be an advantage.
-Experience working with multi media would be desired.
-Experience word processing within a manufacturing environment.

Particular aptitude/skill required

-Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team gathering the required information to ensure that the machine manual is representative and dispatched on time.
-Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and work efficiently.
-Self motivated, with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team is important.
-Due to the nature of our business, where tight timescales are occasionally required, the ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision is desired.
