No Security Clearance Required about security clearance definitions Position Description Plan, coordinate, develop, fabricate, assemble, test and maintain all types of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, tooling, instrumentation, parts/assemblies, and hardware to meet customer tooling requirements. Fabricate, install, maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic and/or vacuum systems associated with tooling fixtures and test stands. Plan, coordinate, schedule and perform tooling fixture Preventive Maintenance. Plan, lay out, fabricate, make, assemble, maintain and repair such typical tool and dies as: forming and joggle dies; tools, required for the fabrication of detail parts, that require coordinated tolerances and involve more than one working plane and/or involve obtuse, acute or right angle construction; dies such as push-through, blanking, piercing, cut-off, compound and deep draw dies. Fabricate, assemble and repair components of the more difficult tools and dies after breakdown and sequence of operations have been planned by employees of higher classification. Setup any and all dies in forming presses to perform tryout and ensure workability of tools and dies. Recommend changes in dies, or recommend complete redesign of dies in order to accomplish better deep drawing operations. Associated Duties and Responsibilities: Use and/or interpret complicated tool and Engineering drawings, sketches, templates, tool design manuals, verbal information, master gages, various handbooks, production parts, assemblies, digitized data, etc. in accomplishing work assignment. Complete work assignments despite lack of complete information on tooling and Engineering drawings or in tool design manuals. Sequence deep draw operations. Make checking fixtures, templates and facilities necessary to accomplish work assignments and for shop use. Use all precision measuring instruments necessary to the trade of tool and die making. Set up and operate hand, power and machine tools evaluated in the same or lower labor grades. May include programming and operation of NC and CNC machines. After tool or die tryout make any necessary changes to ensure the production of parts will meet quality requirements and specifications. Refer discrepancies and make recommendations in design and/or material requirements. Use mathematics including algebra and trigonometry in accomplishing work assignments. Competencies Math-algebra, trigonometry, geometry and practical math; Ability to read and interpret engineering, machine and/or tooling drawings Computer skills-able to access drawings and specs, upload programs, create and edit CNC or PLC programs Operate Man aboard electric stackers, mechanical lifts and overhead cranes/able to use precision measuring tools Mechanical ability-Operate hand tools as well as floor mounted power tools Knowledge of hazardous materials per Government and Boeing regulations Leadership-able to provide and coordinate on the job training, participate as an active team member, give and receive feedback Problem solving Understanding of technical documents and information such as BAC specifications and manufacturing plans Communication-effective verbal and written skills. Basic Qualifications For Consideration Do you have your own precision measuring tools such as OD and ID mics, calipers, depth gage, telescoping gage set, adjustable parallels, V-blocks? Are you willing to work 2nd shift? Have you machined and built tooling fixtures holding tolerances of +/- .0005 using manual mills, lathes, drills, grinders and CNC mills and lathes? Do you have experience interpreting and applying GDT? Typical Education/Experience Prefer high school diploma and/or vocational technical training. Also prefer experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or vacuum systems. Previous machining and/or tooling experience required.
