VP / Senior VP Fixed Income Trader
My client is a leading investment bank based in LONDON looking to add a trader at VP/ Senior VP level to their FICC team. My client has international reach and a very strong and stable presence globally. The chosen trader will join a top-tier team alongside well-respected professionals and very good support systems in place.
The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience Eurobond trading, preferably with a decent period focused on bonds denominated in emerging market. The chosen trader will be responsible for primary and secondary coverage for Eurobond issues. The focus of the role will be to contribute to and increase the number of active retail investors to whom the bank deals in Eurobonds by generating positive PNL figures and working closely with the team.
This role will have a broad mandate allowing flexibility with constructing Eurobond products that the market demands. A strong track record in the Eurobond space in general is key.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years industry experience trading Eurobonds
• Must have a strong technical knowledge of cash rates / SSA’s / Corporate Bonds / Swaps / Govvies for trading and hedging purposes
• A strong track record of Eurobond trading
• Experience and knowledge of sustaining electronic distribution platforms
• Ability to work under pressure and within an international environment
Preferred Attributes (ideal but not essential):
• A decent period of time or some recent experience of trading Eurobonds in Emerging Market currencies ( CEEMEA / LATAM focus )
• Knowledge of using interest swaps / government bonds for hedging purposes
• Entrepreneurial
• Team working and interpersonal skills
• Market knowledge, interest, and experience in the European Fixed Income and Emerging Markets industry
• Understanding of tolls such as Bloomberg / Excel etc
The role:
• Maintain and develop the banks’ Eurobond franchise
- Build out the primary and secondary trading capabilities across the emerging markets – CEEMEA / LATAM in particular
- Product focus cash rates / SSA’s / Corporate Bonds / Swaps / Govvies for both market making and hedging purposes
• Manage the primary and secondary Eurobond trading books
• Generate positive PNL figures trading Eurobonds with a particular focus on emerging markets ( LATAM / CEEMEA )
• You will work closely with the Executive Directors for FIC Sales and Trading
• Develop the global client franchise by improving levels of retail business passing through the desk and therefore profitability
• Work closely with the Global Sales and Origination / Syndication teams
• Manage own risk
• Advise clients and provide them with trade ideas
• Push the sales force and help build the franchise by engaging with the client base – exchanging market views and trade ideas
• Manage and develop desk tools and database
