Chief Information Officer – Central Region recruitment

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Information Technology professional to develop and manage the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of technology to support the achievement of objectives of Central Region. Central Region encompasses 21 countries, including the Gulf countries, Russia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Lebanon, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.

Reporting to the CIO for Europe, the position will be based in Dubai.

Specific responsibilities will include:

* Contributing to the development of major organizational long and medium term strategic decisions, and leading the development of the IS strategy to support these;
* Contributing globally to the IT transformation agenda, focused on application rationalization, implementation of packaged solutions and program delivery;
* Leading the implementation of global IT strategies and translating these into operational plans to enable local execution at country level, collaborating with regional teams;
* Implementing Central Region IT governance structure and adherence to standards and policies in relation to enterprise infrastructure, applications and security;
* Developing proposals to leverage IT as a competitive advantage and evaluating cost effective IT solutions available in the market place to contribute to the profitability of the organization.
* Maintaining an active view of both competitor IT strategies and in particular web based strategies;
* Managing the relationship with strategic out-sourcing partners to ensure that commitments are met and maximum value is derived from contractual arrangements;
* Negotiating new external IT contracts with support from Procurement and Legal teams
* Ensuring the effective delivery of the IT component of projects, in accordance with Chartis' quality, time and cost standards;
* Contributing to the definition of the organizational risk profile, and ensuring that all IT risks are highlighted and agreed actions addressed in a timely manner; and
* Ensuring that the skills of the IT group meet the changing needs of the business and ensuring the on-going professional development of team members.

The successful candidate for this position will possess a minimum of 10 years' experience of functional Technology and Operations experience in insurance or financial services organisations (or possibly a broader retail focused e-business environment) of genuine scale and complexity.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a business related discipline, will be essential, as will the proven ability to drive transformational agendas of IT functions, implementing global strategies at local level.

In addition, a demonstrable track record of success in large scale project delivery in a team based and results oriented culture will be essential. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to multitask, plan, organise, direct and implement the various goals and objectives, and to stimulate creativity and change.

This role will require an individual with strong stakeholder management, analytical and dispute resolution skills and the ability to build relationships, influence and negotiate effectively.

Proven effectiveness with coaching and nurturing talent in his/her senior management teams will also be essential for success.
