Model Validation
As part of the Financial Modeling Research function, Model Validation Manager careers with this stable finacial institution offers you the chance to have a direct impact on the fixed income markets. The Models, Mission and Research division (MMR) is designed to enhance and support their modeling competitive advantage.
You will be responsible for evaluating and managing risks associated with the company's models, including models of defaults, security valuation, prepayments, loan scoring and others. This is a model validation role and involves hands-on econometric and financial modeling as well as strong leadership skills.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assess model risks by performing detailed model validation reviews, establishing performance thresholds, researching model approaches, creating alternative models and other means.
- Reporting findings to model owners and management, ensuring findings are addressed appropriately.
- Make expert recommendations to Senior Management about proposed new models or model changes, and advise them on quantitative and theoretical issues.
- Providing guidance to Finance about the appropriateness of models for use in financial reporting.
- Responsibility for evaluating risk associated with the company's models including models of default, prepayment, valuation and loan scoring.
- Based on detailed risk assessment, design and execute operational and technical audit procedures to provide assurance on controlled model development, on going monitoring and business use
The ideal candidate will possess a general understanding of primary and secondary mortgage market.
Other Requirements Experience:
- In depth knowledge and hands-on experience with mortgage analytics.
- Experience building and/or validating econometric or financial models.
- Familiarity with the role of Internal Audit and SOX controls.
- Lead or supervisory experience.
- Hands-on mortgage/credit card modeling experience.
- Strong engagement skills.
- Ph.D. or Masters in quantitative discipline.
