A Job has arisen for a Revenues and Benefits officer based in a North London Local Authority. Good transport links and a competitive rate make this an excellent opportunity.
The Job
You will be responsible to the Customer Services Team Manager for a telephone service that is open to the public between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm. thorough knowledge of Revenue and Benefits and Council Tax and have the ability to work within a performance management environment with performance objectives related to call handling. Applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to work in a demanding environment and deal with customers who can be distressed, irate and aggressive in an empathetic, courteous and tactful manner.
You will be providing advice on a wide range of revenue functions such as Council Tax, Housing, Council Tax Benefit and Business Rates. Transactions will include: signposting, detailed information/advice provision, complaints handling skills and specialist service knowledge to resolve queries, taking
payments/ refunds, requesting/tracking a service.
You should be able to use judgement and decision making skills to assess customers for eligibility of services and case assessment purposes, consistent with current regulations and policies.
The Person
The successful candidate will have prior knowledge of Revenues and Benefits. Previous experience of using Civica OpenRevenues system and a background in Welfare Benefits will come in very useful.
